Jimboomba State School is a large semi-rural school on the southern edge of Brisbane. The student population is drawn from a variety of home backgrounds, from acreage properties to average house blocks.
Caring and supportive teachers deliver a robust curriculum that is engaging and differentiated to meet the needs of every student. There is a strong Literacy and Numeracy focus across all learning areas, providing quality learning experiences which are both challenging and accessible to all students. Support is given to students who require additional assistance, through class activities, support staff and parent volunteers. High achieving students are offered enrichment in a variety of areas such as English, Mathematics, Science, The Arts and Information and Communication Technologies. The schools' ICT programme offers students from P to 6 the opportunity to engage with a range of programmes and digital devices. We have a large Special Education Programme facility on site catering for students with disabilities. These students are included in the general class population and are supported through the Special Education Program. Our students, both boys and girls, participate in a variety of sports including water polo, AFL, netball and rugby league.
School facilities, such as a pool, hall and science room, provide students with venues for an abundance of extra-curricular activities. We have developed a Pre-Prep programme, allowing future parents to gain important information regarding the school and how they can support their child, and to help future students to integrate more smoothly into Prep. A community play group has been established within the school allowing community members access to educationally enriched activities.
